Presentation of commemorative booklet "Heroes of Crimea" took place in Crimea

On the site of the Crimean Regional Centre of the Presidential Library, based on of the I. Y. Franco Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library, a historical and patriotic programme "Heroes of Crimea", timed to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, was held.

The event was dedicated to the memory of Crimean heroes - participants of the Great Patriotic War, Heroes of the Soviet Union: Vasily Gorishnev, Astan Kesaev, Pavel Kuleshov, Maria Oktyabrskaya, Stepan Poshivalnikov, Alexander Presnyakov, Fyodor Stepanov and Nikolai Tokarev.

The participants of the programme were high school students of school No. 38 named after Hero of the Russian Federation V. A. Dorokhin and Zarechnenskaya school named after the 126th Independent Guards Coastal Defence Brigade.

The deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Igor Fedotov, vice-president of the All-Russian public organisation of small and medium-sized businesses "New Formation" Sergey Gilev, as well as representatives of the Simferopol public organisation of border guard veterans addressed the audience with welcoming speeches.

The event included the presentation of the fifth anniversary commemorative printed booklet on the life and exploits of Crimean heroes, published on the initiative of Vasily Gorishny, grandson of the legendary commander V. A. Gorishny, and with the support of the All-Russian Public Organisation of Small and Medium Enterprises "New Formation".

Representatives of the Crimean branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation told about their activities on military-patriotic education, presented an educational project for high school students "Officers", and invited children of participants of the special military operation to take part in the programme of preparation for admission to military educational institutions.

The event was complemented by a thematic selection of literature from the collections of the Central Library of Crimea and electronic collections of the Presidential Library.

On the portal of the Presidential Library anyone can  learn he collection Republic of Crimea: Pages of History. The collection includes studies, essays, archival documents, photographs and other materials that introduce the administrative, socio-economic, socio-political and cultural development of the peninsula from ancient times to the beginning of the XX century.
