
"Readings of Victory" in Tashkent: memories heard from stage
On 15 April, the Museum of History of Tashkent hosted an international literary and musical event from the cycle "Readings of Victory" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The central theme of the Tashkent "Readings" was the contribution of the Uzbek people to the Great Victory.
Outstanding artists from Russia and Uzbekistan took part in the programme: Dmitry Kharatyan, People's Artist of Russia, a native of the city of Almalyk, Mansur Tashmatov and Abzal Rafikov, People's Artists of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Anastasia Penkova, Honoured Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Feruza Khaldarova, People's Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Republic of Bashkortostan and representatives of the State Youth Theatre of Uzbekistan, State Academic Russian Drama Theatre of Uzbekistan, Fergana Regional Drama Russian Theatre.
Poems and prose by Sharaf Rashidov, Gafur Gulyam, Rasul Gamzatov, Bulat Okudzhava, Robert Rozhdestvensky, Anna Akhmatova and other writers whose works have become part of the people's memory of the war were performed from the stage.
The event was accompanied by live musical accompaniment, video projection and heartfelt reading of texts, which created an atmosphere of deep respect for the history and exploits of the peoples of the Soviet Union.
Readings of Victory is an international educational project that tells about the great feat of warriors and home front workers. It unites people through art, passing on the memory of the war to new generations. Project events have already taken place in Moscow, Volgograd, Kaliningrad, and now in Tashkent.
Visitors to the Russian Cultural Centre will be interested in the large-scale electronic collection Memory of the Great Victory. It includes official documents, photo and newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, propaganda publications, collections of articles, biographies, testimonies of combatants and home front workers, their personal documents and many other materials.
Guests of the Russian House can also familiarise themselves with materials on the history of relations between Russia and Uzbekistan, which are presented in the Presidential Library's electronic collection Russia - Uzbekistan: the history of relations.
