
Informative event in Penza Regional Centre of Presidential Library dedicated to magical world of fairy tales
The Regional Centre of the Presidential Library, based on the M. Lermontov Penza Regional Library opened its doors for the youngest readers - junior schoolchildren from the school camp of gymnasium No. 13. The children had an informative lesson, within the framework of which they went on a "journey" through the wonderful world of fairy tales, full of miracles and magic.
The schoolchildren were told about the secrets of the book kingdom of the library: how to navigate in the labyrinth of shelves and find the right edition, what catalogues there are, what is the principle of arrangement of books on the shelves. The young readers learnt with interest what is a "cover", "front cover", "title page", "lasso", "illustration".
The children were told about the electronic reading room and the Presidential Library portal, where you can find digital copies of printed editions, rare digitised photos and videos. Among them there are documents and books on the history of our state, literature about the culture and traditions of the peoples of Russia, materials about the life and activities of writers, scientists and other outstanding personalities.
Special attention was paid to thematic collections of the Presidential Library. Among them is the collection Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837), which contains not only biographical information and works devoted to the analysis of Alexander Pushkin's works, but also electronic copies of postcards, drawings and paintings depicting the great Russian poet and people from his environment. The children were shown illustrations to Alexander Sergeyevich's works, as well as postcards with reproductions of paintings by famous Russian artists I. Y. Bilibin (The Tale of the Golden Cockerel) and V. A. Serov (The Tale of the Dead Tsarevna and the Seven Bogatyrs, The Tale of the Ass and his Worker Balda, The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish).
Besides, the gymnasium students were presented digitised editions from the Presidential Library's collection: Tales of Russian Aliens with Illustrations, How the Mice Buried the Cat, archive issues of the children's magazines Murzilka and Koster.
During the event the children also had to guess the heroes of favourite fairy tales by colourful illustrations and melodies from cartoons, solve thematic puzzles and rebuses. The game of archaisms aroused special interest. At the end everyone received colouring bookmarks with pictures of favourite fairy tales.
On the Presidential Library's portal anyone can learn the collection Penza region: Pages of History. It includes archival documents, essays, studies, statistical and other materials covering various aspects of the region's development in different historical periods.
