Armenian-Russian School of Orintal Studies opens in Vanadzor

Within the framework of a joint project of Yerevan State University, St. Petersburg State University, ISAA MSU and Rossotrudnichestvo, a summer oriental studies school was launched in Vandzor, bringing together 50 participants from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yerevan.

It is planned that the school will become a platform for meetings in Russia - in St. Petersburg and Moscow - and will be held on a regular basis. Dmitry Litskai, Minister Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, welcomed everyone at the opening ceremony. The school was co-organised by Rossotrudnichestvo. Vadim Fefilov, Head of the Representative Office in Armenia, welcoming the participants noted:

"I myself have been working in the Middle East for a long time and I believe that the profession of orientalist is important and in demand," he said.

The organisers plan to make the school an annual event, given its importance in strengthening scientific and humanitarian cooperation between the countries. Elena Mia, Cultural Attaché of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, was also present at the opening ceremony.

The Electronic Reading Room of the Presidential Library, opened in 2021 on the basis of the House of Russian Book in Yerevan, allows its guests to get acquainted with the whole variety of collections of the library's electronic fund.

Visitors of the House of Russian Book will be interested in the Russian Language collection of the Presidential Library. It includes more than 1,100 items of rare archival documents, including manuscripts, monuments of Russian writing, archival files, scientific works, dictionaries, reference books, teaching aids and much more.
