
Specialists from Saratov Regional Centre of Presidential Library introduced schoolchildren to history of Arctic exploratio
Specialists from the Regional Centre of the Presidential Library, operating on the basis of the Saratov Regional Universal Scientific Library, held an educational event entitled "Touch the Feat with Your Heart" for the pupils of the Solnyshko children's health camp. It was dedicated to the history of Russia's exploration of the Arctic.
Schoolchildren were introduced to thematic resources from the Presidential Library and told about the heroism of participants in scientific expeditions to the North Pole, led in different years by Georgy Sedov and Ivan Papanin. It was noted that the Arctic is a symbol of the tremendous will and labour of many generations of our compatriots.
The children also took part in an educational quiz entitled "What do we know about the Arctic and Antarctic?" and watched themed videos. In addition, Valeria Vorobyova, a specialist at the Saratov Regional Centre of the Presidential Library, prepared a historical excursion entitled "Heroes of the Arctic" for the schoolchildren.
The event was held using a mobile information and library service complex (KIBO).
The Presidential Library portal features a collection entitled Saratov Region: Pages of History. It includes archival documents, research, statistical and visual materials covering various aspects of the region's development in the 16th–20th centuries.
