
Resources of Presidential Library presented at International Bibliographic Congress in Yakutsk
On September 16–19, 2025, the IV International Bibliographic Congress was held at the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), which houses the Regional Center of the Presidential Library. Specialists from 14 countries discussed key trends in the development of bibliography, innovative technologies, and best practices in librarianship. The scientific program included expert sessions, round tables, master classes, and meetings.
One of the congress venues was a panel session entitled "Patriotic Education, Historical Enlightenment, and Countering the Falsification of History Based on Information Resources and Educational Projects of the Presidential Library of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation." Valeria Malakhovskaya, Director of the Presidential Library's Department for Regional Relations, welcomed the participants. She congratulated those gathered on the opening of the congress and noted that such a large-scale event was taking place in the year of the 100th anniversary of the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
Consultant, director of the Presidential Library branch in the Tyumen region, candidate of pedagogical sciences Oleg Shor presented the resource potential of the Presidential Library as a tool for achieving the Russian Federation's national goal of fostering patriotic and socially responsible individuals.
Alexey Voronovich, Director of the Scientific and Expert Work Department at the Presidential Library and candidate of historical sciences, spoke about the educational potential of the Presidential Library's information resources.
Yuri Semyonov, head of the branch of the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Library-Archive of the First President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) "Nikolaev - Center," also addressed the audience.
In their speeches, experts from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) noted the important role of the Presidential Library's digital resources in shaping patriotic consciousness and historical literacy among young people. Examples of such work being carried out in the region were given. Participants discussed the importance of protecting children from inaccurate information and fostering a lasting interest in studying history among young people.
The attention of those gathered was focused on the fact that the activities of the Presidential Library demonstrate the effectiveness of modern electronic repositories, which provide remote access to information resources based on telecommunications technologies. The accumulated experience in developing methodologies for creating and maintaining electronic catalogs, digitizing and storing electronic resources can be used as a benchmark model for the development of library networks.
It should be noted that between 2009 and 2024, the Presidential Library portal was visited by tens of millions of remote users. Access to its resources is also provided through more than 1,800 electronic reading rooms opened in the Russian Federation and foreign countries on the basis of cultural and educational institutions. Their visitors can familiarize themselves with the entire diversity of the library's collection, which contains hundreds of thousands of digitized copies of rare archival documents reflecting the history of our country and constituting its cultural heritage, as well as participate in various projects. In the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), a Regional Center of the Presidential Library has been opened, with 97 electronic reading rooms in operation.
