
Electronic reading room of the Presidential Library is now in Barnaul
June 8, 2012 in the main building of the Altai State University opened an electronic reading room with access to the resources of the Presidential Library. It is intended for students, graduate students and university professors, as well as researchers and teachers of Barnaul.
The grand opening was attended by Governor of the Altai Territory, A. B. Karlin, university rector, S. V. Zemlyukov, teachers and students. The attendees were told about the Presidential Library’s holdings, demonstrated the options available to work with electronic publications. The head of the region became the first reader of the opened reading room. As a lawyer, he was particularly interested in the old law books from the library’s collections.
As noted S. V. Zemlyukov, this reading room will enable students and teachers to access through the information space the rich collection of documents on the history of Russia, including documents on the history of the Altai Territory.
"Altai Krai: pages of history" collection published on the portal of the library, has aroused interest among residents of the region. Specialists of the Presidential Library have formed the collection from essays, reviews and reports on the history of the region of the late 19th - early 20th century, as well as the current charter of the Altai Territory.
The Presidential Library has been developing relations with the Altai State University since 2010. In May 2012 the parties signed a cooperation agreement, under which employees of the Barnaul electronic reading room will have a training course on the basis of the Presidential Library.
The Altai State University became the fifth university in Russia, which opened a reading room with access to the resources of the Presidential Library. Until now, electronic reading rooms of the Presidential Library have been established on the basis of the Faculty of Law St. Petersburg State University, the Northern (Arctic) Federal University, the Kostroma State University, the Tolstoy State Pedagogical University of Tula and the Pacific State University.
