The Presidential Library develops the Constitutional collection

On the 20th anniversary of the Constitution, the Presidential Library digitized shorthand records of the Constituent Assembly, which are of great interest to historians, researchers and legal practitioners; they also allow plunging into the political events of the early 1990s.

The records, along with other unique documents, will be presented in the virtual Museum of Constitution created by the first national electronic library of the country. Multi-volume shorthand records of the Constituent Assembly, documents and materials have been provided for the publication on the Internet by the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation. The materials contain solutions to finalize the draft of the Constitution by the specialists of the Public and State Chambers, of the Commission of Constitutional Arbitration of the Constituent Assembly, covering the period from April 29 to November 10, 1993. In discussions among others participated Anatoly Sobchak, Viktor Chernomyrdin, Serey Shahrai, Yuri Yarov, Victor Shumejko. The materials of the records reflect their opinions, views and discussions.

Virtual museum of the Constitution will be an informational resource that will present videos, news, photos, documents on constitutional practice in electronic form, including 3D mode. The project will be the first of the kind in the world and it will open before December 2013.

After covering the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Library will begin a lot of research and organizational work in support of the 2014 events to mark the 150th anniversary of the Judicial Reform. Its essence is described in the materials from the library collections, where Alexander II indicates the importance of "elevating the judiciary, giving it a proper independence, and making people respect the law, since it is indispensable for the public welfare, and should be a standard for everyone, from the higher to lower classes."
