2 June 2015

By September 1, 2015 it is planned to connect more than 50 educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to the resources of the Presidential Library. Today, at a meeting on the development of regional network Director General of the Library Alexander Vershinin gave instructions to implement these plans.

In early May of this year, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Department of Affairs of the President of the Russian Federation and the Presidential Library. The agreement stipulates for the connection of all universities and pre-university educational institutions subordinated to the Ministry of Defense to the resources of the Presidential Library. At present, a joint work plan in this sphere is being elaborated with the Ministry of Defense.

Thus, by the end of 2015 it is planned to increase the number of regional centers and remote electronic reading rooms to 200. To date, the Presidential Library has opened more than 150 regional centers and remote electronic reading rooms in 68 regions of the Russian Federation.

Opening of regional centers and remote electronic reading rooms provides access to a wealth of scientific, cultural and historical heritage of Russia in electronic form. The development of relations with the military institutions would not only provide access to the Presidential Library collections, which include more than 380, 000 units. This will give the opportunity to actively involve cadets, students, teachers in educational and research projects, obtain the unique documents and materials from the archives of the Ministry of Defense educational institutions in order to digitize them.
