
The Presidential Library and RUDN-University strengthen their cooperation
The Presidential Library and the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) have officially opened a remote electronic reading room and exchanged cooperation agreements in the interdisciplinary academic and library center of one of the leading universities of the country. Overall there will be 30 new working places for the students and professors of the RUDN- University, accommodated in several campus buildings.
Director General of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin appreciated all the participants and stressed the importance of real-life communication apart of on-line. In terms of development of a comprehensive educational work, he also invited rector of the Peoples’ Friendship University Vladimir Filippov to take part in one of the traditional public video lecturing of the Presidential Library. Alexander Vershinin also mentioned one of the most important projects of the Presidential Library for 2017 - the translation one, which can certainly be helpful for the RUDN-University, taking into account the number of countries represented at that school. This project is implemented jointly with the Chief Research Computing Center (GlavNIVTS).
Rector of the Russian Peoples' Friendship University Vladimir Filippov said that this event opens up the significant course of the university’s accomplishments - its cooperation with the Presidential Library. He noted that the Presidential Library and the Peoples’ Friendship University have a great deal in common, both basing their work on the cutting-edge information technologies, on the networking principles, which require interaction. “Indeed, we have signed this agreement, which specifies the main directions of our cooperation. Now we can come to the library as fully legitimate partners. I think that we have to organize a small delegation of students of different faculties of the RUDN-University, so our foreign students get a chance to look at the Presidential Library,” - said Vladimir Filippov. Rector also suggested organizing an access to library resources for the students in the Ordzhonikidze Street building.
More than 60 people have participated the event: there were the representatives of the Presidential Library, the university administration, the leads of student bodies, deputy deans of Peoples’ Friendship University, the councils of the Education Policy Administration, as well as local associations of fellow University students.
Within a presentation of the resources of the Presidential Library a collection approach of the library stock building was featured, a work with the library website and electronic reading room was explained, and the participants’ questions were answered.
