
The Presidential Library launches new information projects – "launches" вместо "launchs"
New information projects were presented at the meeting of the Academic Council of the Presidential Library on April 14, 2017. During the ten years that have elapsed since issuing of the Russian President's decree on the establishment of the institution, the Presidential Library is constantly evolving, and today it has connected entire Russia by means of its access centers and publishing the unique documents in the Internet.
In July 2017, the Presidential Library plans to launch a new website. Its updated version is a completely domestic software product developed by the Main Scientific Research Computing Center of the Department of Presidential Affairs. Website will provide an access to work with the library stock, integration with the electronic reading room, and will expand the resources search capabilities.
Today the new version of website goes through a stage of public discussions with the involvement of remote access centers. The proposals will be implemented by July 2017, after which the working version will be put into operation.
During the meeting the intention of the Presidential Library to initiate a periodical legal magazine, which will be an effective platform for discussing emerging problems, was also announced. The magazine will, in particular, be a kind of center for the development of new solutions in the field of electronic lawmaking. For this, a good reserve of experience on the issue of fundamental collections on the history of Russian and foreign legislation has been already accumulated. It can also be used to solve problems arising within the development of informational support of the demands in the field of electronic law.
The Scientific Council also presented work on the digitization of the archives of the Alexander-Svirsky Monastery, started by means of the mobile scanning complex of the Presidential Library in the Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The questions of improving legislation on the preservation and use in the electronic form of information resources of the archives, libraries, museums, and mass media were also raised. A need for coordination the routine of conversion the materials into electronic form was articulated as well.
The General Director of the Presidential Library, PhD in Law, Professor Alexander Vershinin headed the Academic Council. On the same day, he welcomed participants of the “Law and information: the issues of theory and practice” VII International Scientific and Practical Conference of the Presidential Library. On it, lawyers, journalists, representatives of cultural institutions, universities and academic institutions discuss the issues of information law in order to develop recommendations for its development and implementation in the electronic environment.
