Russian Information and Cultural Center in Baku participated in public video lecturing dedicated to 200th anniversary of Russian poet and writer Alexey Tolstoy

On September 19, the Russian Information and Cultural Center in Baku took part in public video lecturing entitled “Admirer of decent muse: on the 200th anniversary of the birth of A. K. Tolstoy,” organized as part of the “Knowledge of Russia” project of the Presidential Library.

The main scientific worker of the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, PhD in Philology, Professor Vladimir Kotelnikov, who is the author and author of the preface to the five-volume edition of collected works by Alexei Tolstoy, as well as the head of the Philology Center of the Russian Word Publishing House Alexei Fedorov appeared before an audience.

Lead librarian of the St. Petersburg Library named after N. A. Nekrasov (Interdistrict Centralized Library System named after M. Y. Lermontov) Ksenia Charyeva told listeners about the St. Petersburg’s chapters of life of Count A. K. Tolstoy. In 2012 “A living room of Count Alexei Tolstoy” opened its doors for visitors in the Library named after N. A. Nekrasov. This is a joint project of the Lermontov Interdistrict Centralized Library System and the Bryansk Oblast Scientific Universal Library named after B. I. Tyutchev. The living room displays some documents that tell about the writer’s life and work: books, audio and video materials. The collection reviews in the most detailed way the time, creative, and ambiance of Tolstoy.

On the Presidential Library website could be found the electronic selection of Alexei Tolstoy's works, documents and research works about him, for example, the book by V. D. Zakharova A. K. Tolstoy: chronicles of life and creative work, as well as the publication A history of Russian statehood. Vol. 1. The main lineaments of the ancient Russian state by Baron S. A. Korf, with an epigraph from a poem by A. K. Tolstoy, or the Messenger of Europe for 1905 (Vol. 1, Book 1, January), with the pages from his diary, and many others.
