A virtual journey for schoolchildren "Great Battle Memorable Date…", dedicated to the 205th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino, was held in Ryazan

September 25 at the Ryazan Center for Remote Access to Electronic Resources of the Presidential Library, opened on the basis of the Gorky Ryazan Regional Universal Scientific Library, sixth graders of the school № 33 made a virtual trip to the past of our country.

September marked 205 years of the Battle of Borodino, the bloodiest one-day battle in the history of mankind. Napoleon, recognizing the strength and power of Russian weapons, called this battle a "battle of giants". 

To set the students on a festive mood became available thanks to the poem of M. Y. Lermontov "Borodino" in the performance of the Soviet and Russian theater and film actor Mikhail Kazakov.

The film of the Presidential Library "The Glorious Year of the People's War" demonstrated to children materials from the library's fund, covering this historic event from different angles. Particular attention is paid to archival documents, illustrated publications, popular prints, national and French caricatures.

The employee of the Center for rare and valuable publications of the Gorky Library told about the most interesting exhibits of the exhibition "The Last Years Holy Memory", running in the library.

The final chord of the event was the acquaintance with the legend about the origin of the Borodino bread, named so in memory of the great battle. Schoolboys in a new way could estimate its unusual spicy taste.
