
The Presidential Library opened a remote electronic reading room in the Vladimir Mayakovski Library
A new center for remote access to the resources of the Presidential Library was opened today, November 13, 2017, at the Vladimir Mayakovski Central Public Library. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Culture of St. Petersburg Alexander Voronko. In his speech, he noted the high social importance of projects aimed at meeting the information needs of citizens. "This landmark event is capable of transforming the library world of our city".
According to Zoya Chalova, director of the Mayakovski Central Public Library: "This is a very important event for the Mayakovski Library. We were entrusted with the greatest mission. We were very much waiting for the opening of the access center to the resources of the Presidential Library on our site".
Opening of the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library on the basis of the Mayakovski Library is only the first step towards a fruitful joint activity. "Regional documents, Olympiads and contests, excursion tours, as well as many other types of projects that we implement independently, easily fit into the general plans of institutions. And of course, the joint methodical work on the organization and use of access to electronic resources will be in demand in St. Petersburg, since the actual task is to promote the development of the local information and library network", - said Alexander Vershinin, Director General of the Presidential Library.
On the day of the grand opening, guests, readers and employees of the Mayakovski Library got familiar with multimedia materials demonstrating the full range of the Presidential Library's capabilities. Now everyone can use full access to its fund. To date, it has more than 580 thousand units of storage.
The staff of the Presidential Library spoke in detail about the possibilities of the electronic national book depository: about the fund, about joint activities with the regions, the updated Internet portal.
Access to the information resources of the Presidential Library will be open to all residents of Petersburg. The Presidential Library can be contacted at the opening hours of the Mayakovski Library in the hall of the main fund on the embankment on the Fontanka River, 44.
Today in Petersburg this is the third site where on the basis of the library it has been opened a center for access to the information resources of the Presidential Library. The first two are located in the branch of the Central Naval Library in the Admiralty and in the Centralized Library System of the Kurortny district. In total, the Presidential Library has opened more than 430 remote access centers in all 85 regions of the country.
