Week of Russian Cinema: The exhibition of posters "Towards each other" was opened in London

21 November 2017

November 21, 2017 at the Rossotrudnichestvo office in London in the framework of the Week of Russian Cinema was opened an exhibition of a unique collection of posters of Russian films that have been released in the UK over the past few decades, as well as vintage Soviet posters for English and American films.

"The art component at the festival is very important for us", - says the general producer of the Russian Cinema Week, the owner of some of the exhibits at the Rossotrudnichestvo exhibition, Philippe Percon. - We are interested not only in the movie itself, but in everything that is somehow connected with it. The poster most vividly conveys the essence of this idea. The exhibition "Towards each other" embodies our cross-cultural festival, as it presents posters for Anglo-American and Russian films, continuing the tradition of cultural exchange. The exhibition includes posters from my collection and my father's collection, which reflects the reunion of not only Russian and British cultures, but also generations".

Philippe Percon started his collection from the age of 15. Now his collection includes about 700 posters. His father is Valery Zherlitsin - the owner of 60 posters, many of which are almost 100 years old.

The week of Russian cinema will be continued with film screenings, meetings with representatives of the film industry, exhibitions and master classes.

The Presidential Library portal features electronic collection "To the Year of Russian Cinema". The collection, timed to coincide with the Year of Cinema in Russia, included official documents, studies, various graphic materials (posters, postcards, etc.), revealing various aspects of the development of Russian cinema since the beginning of the XX century, as well as representing individual films and actors of Russian and Soviet cinema.

The collection included about sixty documents.
