6 February 2018

Today, February 6, 2018, the grand opening of the center for remote access to the resources of the Presidential Library in the Republika Srpska took place. It is located on the site of the National and University Library. This became possible thanks to the cooperation agreement signed on December 7, 2017 in Smolny in the presence of St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko.

The Presidential Library and the National and University Library of the Republika Srpska intend to implement joint scientific and cultural projects, to hold common events. The funds of both institutions are planned to be replenished with national electronic documents and information materials. "Connecting to our electronic storage is only the first step. The creation of a common collection of documents, the search for and disclosure of other significant resources, the conduct of joint public events - our subsequent activities will be devoted to the solution of these practical tasks", - noted Alexander Vershinin, Director General of the Presidential Library.

Head of the Cultural Heritage Protection Department of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republika Srpska, Milica Kotur, Director of the Education of the Republika Srpska, Predrag Damyanovic, Chairman of the Municipal Assembly in Banja Luka, Zoran Talic, Director of the National and University Republic of Srbska Lilya Petrovich-Zecic, Director of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Natalia Milakovich, representatives of the Presidential Library, students and teachers of the Banja Luka University of Republika Srpska visited the opening ceremony.

Visitors to the remote electronic reading room have access to the entire collection of the Presidential Library, which today has more than 600 thousand items. These are digital copies of printed publications, documents, abstracts, dissertations, audio and video recordings, as well as other materials reflecting the centuries-old history of Russian statehood, theory and practice of law, the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation. In particular, the thematic collection "From the history of Russian-Serbian relations" is available on the portal of the Presidential Library in open access. In the collection, you can see individual studies, archival, journalistic and other materials devoted to Serbian history and reflecting Russian-Serbian cooperation in the military, economic and cultural spheres in different historical periods.

It should be noted that the cooperation between the Presidential Library and Republika Srpska has been developing successfully for several years. Last year, representatives of the delegation from Republika Srpska visited the Presidential Library on a working visit, during which they got familiar with its activities, resources and opportunities, saw historical interiors and modern premises created specifically for public and state events. On the same day Lilya Petrovich-Zecich became a reader of the Presidential Library.

Currently, the Presidential Library is represented abroad by more than 30 remote centers of access in 28 countries, including Germany, the USA, Italy, Spain, Austria, the United Kingdom and others.
