The Days of the Arctic were held in the National Library of the Komi Republic

February 11-12, the National Library of the Komi Republic held the Days of the Arctic. The event was attended by about a thousand people. Events that are traditionally held in late February, this year took place earlier in connection with the arrival in Syktyvkar of the famous polar traveler Victor Ilyich Boyarsky.

On Sunday, February 11, the library arranged Syktyvkar residents a thematic Arctic holiday. On the site in front of the building anyone could see the home of the indigenous peoples of the north - the plague, and also take pictures with the dogs of the Husky, Malamute and Samoyed. Within the walls of the library, the master classes on making a postcard with a northern bear and wintering motifs, took place.

At 13:00, the opening of the photo exhibition of Vorkuta resident Sergei Shcherbak "At Arctic latitude" was held. According to the author, most of the pictures were made in the Sob River valley. The exposition is located in the foyer of the second floor and will be available for viewing throughout February.

The main event of the day was a meeting with a guest from St. Petersburg - the famous traveler Victor Boyarsky. An honorable polar explorer of Russia told about himself and about his expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic. After the event, which lasted almost three hours, the Syktyvkar people lined up to take Victor Boyarsky’s autograph. The meeting continued the next day, on February 12. A full room gathered to listen to the famous traveler. The traveler told how the expeditions to the North Pole are being prepared, answered the questions.

Earlier on the same day, a teleconference with the Arctic Center of the University of Lapland, the presentation of the project of the Chairman of the Federation of Tourism of the Komi Republic Gennady Markovsky "Rodoy Pas: Rural School of Tourism", the quest "Arctic Labyrinth" based on the materials of the Presidential Library and the adventure game "Chronicles of dangerous adventures: how the Arctic was conquered" took place.

The Presidential Library portal features the collection "The Komi Republic: pages of history". The selection includes studies, essays, archival documents, photographs and phonographic materials reflecting the administrative, socio-economic and ethnographic position of the territories which are now part of the Komi Republic. The current Constitution of the Republic of Komi is also presented.
