Within the framework of the project "Stalingrad: 200 days of courage" a meeting of the cinema club "Stopkadr", dedicated to cinematography during the Great Patriotic War, was held at the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Brest,

The event, held on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day, was attended by servicemen of the 38th Independent Guards Vienna Red Banner Airborne Assault Brigade.

Participants of the event learned about the genres of cinema, distributed in the war years: documentary, journalistic, short, military dramas. Particular attention was paid to the military newsreel and the full-length films created on its basis, in particular, the tape "Stalingrad." This film, released in 1943, is unique, as it can trace the entire course of the Battle of Stalingrad. The story was accompanied by photographs, shots from films and military newsreels illustrating the history of film production during the Great Patriotic War.

At the end of the cinema club meeting, a screening of the film "Soldiers", directed by Alexander Ivanov in 1956 based on the story of Victor Nekrasov "In the trenches of Stalingrad", was screened. The value of this film for modern viewers is in the reliability of the description of events, since it was created by participants of the Great Patriotic War.

The Presidential Library portal features collection "Memory of the Great Victory", where a lot of electronic materials devoted to the Battle of Stalingrad were collected: a video chronicle, memoirs of the participants of the events, the issues of the "Stalingradskaya Pravda" for 1942-1943; here are also presented rare books, posters of war time, photos of the memorial on the Malakhov Kurgan and much more.
