Series of educational events for schoolchildren to New Year themed held in Penza

1 January 2025

Before the New Year holidays, specialists from the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, based at the Lermontov Penza Regional Library, organized a series of interesting educational events for schoolchildren. Participants included students from schools No. 36, 64, and 68, as well as Lyceum No. 52.

According to the script of an intellectual game, Baba Yaga, the evil witch, had hidden Winter in one of the rooms of the Penza Regional Library. To find her and free her, children had to complete a series of challenges and decipher a code from a file indicating the location of the imprisoned fairy-tale character.

Vintage books available on the Presidential Library's portal and digitized films from the National Children's Electronic Library assisted in this process.

Schoolchildren solved winter-themed puzzles from the digitized Azbuka book by Leo Tolstoy (1872), which is available on the Presidential Library's portal. They were also told about the history of New Year celebrations and taught how to make Christmas decorations with their own hands using the The Christmas Tree publication from 1937 on the Presidential Librar's portal.

In addition to solving puzzles, the students performed other activities such as filling a tub with snowballs and answering questions about New Year traditions from different countries. They also created snowmen and danced with Ded Moroz to celebrate the New Year. Baba Yaga, a character from Russian folklore, used a chat on a popular messaging app to evaluate the students' performance.

The collection Penza Region: Pages of History is available on the Presidential Library's portal. It includes archival documents, essays, studies, statistical and other materials covering various aspects of the region's development in different historical periods.
