The museum-diorama was opened on May 7, 1985 in a squat granite building, stylized under the pillbox of the times of the Great Patriotic War. The authors of the diorama are Leningrad artists, among them participants of the Great Patriotic War B. V. Kotik, N. M. Kutuzov, F. V. Savostyanov, K. G. Molteninov, and the blockade V. I. Seleznev. Diorama is a canvas that reproduces the main events of the battles of Operation Iskra (January 12-18, 1943), which became the turning point of the Battle for Leningrad. In 2003, before the diorama, an open exposition of military equipment was installed, which participated in operations to break through the blockade of Leningrad.
