The monument to the Children of Siege Leningrad was opened on September 8, 2010 on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Siege, a sculpture of a girl with a piece of bread in her hand. The authors of the sculpture are Galina Dodonova and the architect Vladimir Reppo. The monument was installed in the courtyard of the house No. 53 along Nalichnaya Street in an apple orchard planted in 1953 by pupils of the school No. 34 in memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War. The garden was created on the initiative of the biology teacher at school No. 34 Anfisa Nikolaevna Semenova-Tien-Shanskaya, the wife of the grandson of the famous traveler and senator. She taught all the blockade at school. In the most difficult time of the blockade, only a few students and one teacher came to school. The monument always contains children's toys and tiny pieces of rye bread. In the depths of the garden on the graffiti fence are children's drawings: flower meadows, apple trees, bright colors, the sun .
