On April 11, 2011, the Yeltsin Presidential Library hosted the presentation of the "Open Space" exhibition project timed to the 50th anniversary of the first human flight into space. The exposition, prepared jointly with the North-Western organization of the Russian Cosmonautics Federation, presents books, personal items, collections of Russian scientists and popularisers of the ideas of cosmonautics KE Tsiolkovsky, VI Pryanishnikov, YA Perelman; objects that have been in space, as well as newspapers, posters and photographs. Plasma screens show modern documentary films about space and the historical chronicle of the launch of Yu. A. Gagarin on April 12, 1961. In the multimedia hall of the Presidential Library there are rockets and other aircraft, made by students of the Anichkov Palace rocket and space modeling laboratory. The presentation was attended by cosmonauts, specialists in rocket and space industry, rectors of branch universities, scientists. The funds of the Presidential Library were enlarged with the book "Cosmos", published with the support of GLOBEXBANK, the electronic version of the newspaper Smena on April 13, 1961, and its special issue dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the historic flight.
