It was erected in 1748-1752. under the decree of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna as the royal residence in the south of the Russian Empire under the project of the court architect FB Rastrelli. The architectural ensemble is solved in the Baroque style. Throughout its history has been repeatedly reconstructed. In the late 1970's - early 1980's. was a thorough restoration of the palace complex. Today, the Mariinsky Palace is the official residence of the President of Ukraine. |
