It was founded in 1744 to commemorate the arrival of Empress Elizaveta Petrovna in Kiev on the spot where, according to legend, the Apostle Andrew the First-Called foretold the great future of Kiev as the cradle of Christianity in the Slavic lands. It was built during 1749-1754. It was built in the Rococo style by the design of B. Rastrelli, the architect - I. Michurin. The church is preserved.
