May 24 is the Day of Slavic Writing and Culture, traditionally timed to the Day of Remembrance of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Cyril and Methodius - creators of the Old Slavonic alphabet, Christian preachers. Their lives are mentioned in the "Tale of Bygone Years by the Laurentian List" - the oldest chronicle of the Russian land, an electronic copy of which is represented on the portal of the Presidential Library.

On December 15, 1970, the Soviet spacecraft became the first spacecraft to soft land on the planet Venus, neighbouring to the Earth, and the first to transmit data from there back to Earth. This achievement was the result of years of work that was launched by chief designer Sergei Korolev at OKB-1 and continued by Georgy Babakin at the Lavochkin Aircraft Design Bureau.

Multimedia exhibition "How few of them are left on earth..." dedicated to the veterans of Komi Republic will be open at the Presidential Library on June 21 to July 5, 2021. The first Kamchatka expedition began
24 July 1728
On July 13 (24), 1728 Russian Fleet officer, navigator Vitus Jonassen Bering put to sea on the boat “St. Gabriel” in search of the American land. This was the beginning of the first expedition to Kamchatka. Its main objective was to find out if Asia is connected to America or there is a strait between them.

International initiatives: A campaign for preservation of historical memory and development of relations between regions of Russia and Canada launched

The project “The Pride of Russia” – a joint campaign intended for cooperation between public organizations of Kursk (Russia) and the Cultural Heritage Foundation (Toronto, Canada) was mounted in the early August in Kursk. Its purpose is to preserve the historical memory of people and strengthen friendly relations between the regions of Russia and Canada. The project is implemented with the support of the Administration of Kursk.
