History of Russia: Archaeologists in Novgorod discover the seal of Yaroslav the Wise’s grandson

In Novgorod archaeologists have unearthed a rare seal that belonged to the grandson of the famous Prince of Novgorod Yaroslav the Wise (977/978-1054), Oleg Svyatoslavovitch - Prince of Chernigov (1053-1115), informed one of archaeologists of Novgorod archaeological expedition, though not specifying the date the discovery was made.

The conference “Yaroslav the Wise. Problems of studying, preservation and interpretation of the historical and cultural heritage” is held at the Yaroslav the Wise Library from February 28 to March 1, 2013 with participation of specialists from Minsk, Saint-Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Pskov, Vladivostok, Uglich, Yaroslavl. The participants from Ryazan and Arzamas will present their reports via video link.

One of the largest and bloodiest battles of the Great Patriotic War and World War II - the battle at the Kursk salient (also known as the Kursk bulge), or the Battle of Kursk, came to an end 76 years ago, on August 23, 1943. Some of the materials of the electronic collection Memory of the Great Victory on the Presidential Library’s portal are devoted to it. It includes official documents, photographs and newsreels, wartime newspapers, books, and first-hand accounts of participants.

He is the creator of the Russian National Opera and the founder of the Russian school of art music. May 15, 2018 marks the 220th anniversary of one of the leaders of the uprising on the Senatskaya Square on December 14, 1825, a member of the secret society "Union of Prosperity", a lyceum student of the first issue Ivan Ivanovich Pushchin. "My first friend, my priceless friend! .." A. S. Pushkin wrote a poem dedicated to him. And this title of "priceless friend" the closest companion of the poet from the Lyceum times confirmed his whole life.
