The Bikin National Park in Primorsky Krai has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. The resolution was passed on July 2 2018 at the meeting of the World Heritage Committee in Bahrain. The Bikin River Valley is recognized as «the extension of the Central Sikhote-Alin site, which was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2001.

Marking Russian Language Day: National Pushkin Museum in Saint-Petersburg to hold festive events

Marking the 222nd anniversary of the great Russian poet, the National Pushkin Museum prepared a program celebrating the annual Russian Language Day and Pushkin Day on June 6. The festival will be held on the Moika River embankment, 12 and in the Memorial Lyceum Museum.

July 15, 1937 took place the grand opening of the canal linking Moscow with the Volga River for navigation of passenger and cargo ships. In 1947, to mark the 800th anniversary of the city of Moscow and the 10th anniversary of the existence of the canal between Moscow and Volga River, it was named the Moscow Canal.

4 (17) April 1912, during a strike at the fields of the Lena gold-mining partnership "Lenzoloto", located near the town of Bodaybo, Irkutsk Province, along the Lena River and its tributaries, Vitim and Olekma, government troops opened fire against the workers. The tragic events were made part of historical literature and nonfiction under the name "The Lena Massacre."

The "When the Trees Were Tall" exhibition project provides four outdoor photo exhibitions. A battle between Russian and Swedish troops on the Neva River, forever entering into the history of Russian victories as the Battle of the Neva, took place on this day.

On May 27, 2025, we will mark the 322nd anniversary of the founding of St. Petersburg. This day in 1703, Peter the Great founded a fortress on Zayachy Island at the mouth of the Neva River. The emperor himself drew the plan for the fortress.
