History and Culture: Photo exhibition “Thomas Mann. Life of the Great Writer” presented in Perm

The Gorky Perm Regional Library presents the travelling photo exhibition “Thomas Mann. Life of the Great Writer”. It is dedicated to the upcoming 145th anniversary of the birth of the Nobel laureate, which will be marked next year. The exhibition is organized by the Heinrich and Thomas Mann Center at the Buddenbrook House in Lübeck (Germany) and the Goethe Institut (the German Cultural Center).

October 22, 2020 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Alekseevich Bunin (1870-1953) - one of the most talented representatives of the Silver Age in prose and poetry, winner of the 1933 Nobel Prize in Literature. The electronic collections of the Presidential Library contain not only digitized copies of editions of his works of the early 20th century, photographs, letters, but also research papers dedicated to the writer, abstracts of dissertations.

The winners and prize-winners of the XI annual interactive Olympiad for schoolchildren Russia in the Electronic World in history, social studies and the Russian language were awarded on May 14, 2021. The event took place in the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg, in its branch in Tyumen Region, in the Reserve Center of the Presidential Library in Moscow, as well as at the sites of remote electronic reading rooms of the institution in other regions of the Russian Federation.

Specialists from the Crimean Regional Centre of the Presidential Library, based on Franco Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library, organized an educational event called S. Novikov: Winner of the Great Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences Named After M. Lomonosov. The event took place as part of the Long Live Russian Science! cycle and was timed to coincide with the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The film The Song of Tbilisi was discussed at the regular meeting of the Cinema Club in the Presidential Library. Lev Sidorovsky, a well-known journalist, laureate of international and All-Union competitions, Honored Cultural Worker of Russia, whose name was given to one of the minor planets of the Solar System, presented it. A screenwriter, cameraman, and director of the film Lev Sidorovsky accompanied it with interesting commentaries.

Information about him was added to the section Outstanding Scientists and Inventors of the XIX century of the project Great Russia, implemented by the Presidential Library.
