Today, October 22, 2019 marks the 149th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Bunin (1870–1953), a prose writer, poet, translator and Nobel Prize winner in literature in 1933. The Presidential Library’s portal provides a selection of memories of the writer and his work, including early Bunin’s poems and stories published on the pages of pre-revolutionary magazines, such as: “Novoye Slovo”, “Sovremenny Mir” and others.

At the Museum-Exhibition Complex of the “Dmitrov Kremlin” Museum-Reserve (the Moscow region) was opened a unique exhibition "History in Miniature - A Vision Through the Ages". The exhibition is dedicated to the military-historical miniature - a rare kind of decorative and applied art. It features tin soldiers from different eras, beginning with Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Medieval Europe, Ancient Rus’ and ending with the armies of the World War II, as well as modern characters.

The Presidential Library is located in the historic center of St. Petersburg, not far from St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Admiralty and the Bronze Horseman and is actively developing as a tourist attraction. The building of the Holy Synod, where the library is located, is itself an architectural monument. Previously, the Russian State Historical Archive was located here, and the modern electronic library opened its doors to visitors in 2009.

640 years ago, on September 8, 1380, the Battle of Kulikovo took place - a battle between the Russian troops under the united command of Prince Dmitry of Moscow and the armies of the Golden Horde under the command of Mamai. The bloody battle was at the Kulikovo Field between the Don, Nepryadva and Krasivaya Mecha rivers in the southeast of modern Tula Region.
