Information technologies and libraries: New extraordinary scanner in the Library of Congress

Mark Sweeney, chief of the Serial and Government Publications Division, recently unveiled a newspaper-size scanner that is available for use by readers. According to book2net, the company that makes the scanner, it is the first and only one of its kind in the United States—and so far the only one at the Library.

History and Culture: Exhibition “Waiting for a Miracle” presented in Voronezh

On the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, the exhibition Waiting for a Miracle opened in the exhibition hall of the Kramskoy Voronezh Regional Art Museum. It features 30 works of painting, graphics, decorative and applied art from the collections of the museum, the ‘Voronezh Artists’ Charitable Foundation, the ‘Gallery of the Soviet Era’ Exhibition Centre, and private collections. Many of the works are being exhibited for the first time.

The X All-Russian annual retreat of the heads of regional centers and partners of the Presidential Library is held from September 23-29, 2023 within the framework of the Annual Integration Forum. For the first time, the meeting is held in a new format: for 7 days, the heads of regional centers bring together at different sites in the territory of three subjects of the Ural Federal District (Tyumen, Kurgan, Sverdlovsk Regions), a total of 15 sites are planned to be visited.

The Presidential Library holds the 10th Russia in the Electronic World Olympiad – the annual interactive Olympiad for schoolchildren which involves schoolchildren and applicants. Tenth- and eleventh-graders from schools of Russia and foreign countries can register on the Olympiad’s website and test their knowledge of history, social studies and the Russian language since September 19.
