On July 2, 2021, the branch of the Astrakhan Museum-Reserve - the Museum of Astrakhan Culture will launch an exhibition devoted to the St. Nicholas Church in Astrakhan. The temple is closely connected with Astrakhan merchants and the trading area (Gostiny Dvor).

Mikhail Glinka in the memoirs of his contemporaries

On June 1st, 2024, the 220th anniversary of the birth of Russian composer Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka will be celebrated. He is the creator of the Russian National Opera and the founder of the Russian school of art music. The Presidential Library has posted a collection of digital copies of books, brochures, archival documents, and visual materials related to Glinka on Library's portal.

May 15, 2018 marks the 220th anniversary of one of the leaders of the uprising on the Senatskaya Square on December 14, 1825, a member of the secret society "Union of Prosperity", a lyceum student of the first issue Ivan Ivanovich Pushchin. "My first friend, my priceless friend! .." A. S. Pushkin wrote a poem dedicated to him. And this title of "priceless friend" the closest companion of the poet from the Lyceum times confirmed his whole life.

The CD with recollections of writers who participated in the Great Patriotic War, has come out in Altai krai. Reminiscences about a defender of Leningrad to enter the Presidential Library’s collections

The Presidential Library has been receiving materials as part of a large-scale campaign launched last November in an effort to collect first-hand accounts of the siege. This time we got a letter from Kasym Maulenov, son of the prominent Kazakh poet Syrbai Maulenov, who defended Leningrad on the Volkhov Front, was seriously wounded and kept the memories of that time alive through his whole life.

A lot has been written about the heroic deeds of medical workers during the Great Patriotic War. They carried the wounded off the battlefield under heavy fire and, forgetting about their own safety, fought for the lives of everyone for days on end. Thanks to their efforts, about 17 million Red Army soldiers who were wounded or sick during the war were returned to active duty.

The British Library digitized a rare manuscript of John Donne's poems known as the "Melford Hall Manuscript". It was discovered only in 2018. Now it is available online. Specialists will have an opportunity to explore it in the library's reading room from the summer of 2021.

Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, an outstanding Russian writer and one of the most significant playwrights in the history of world theater, whose 165th anniversary is celebrated on January 29th, did not maintain diaries, keep specific notes, or intend to write an autobiography. However, he did create a few sketches.
