Alexander Griboyedov’s 225th anniversary celebrated in Yerevan

The literary-musical event "Your mind and your affairs are immortal in the memory of Russian people...", dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Griboyedov, took place in the Yeritsyan gymnasium at the branch of Moscow State University in Yerevan in the framework of the XI Republican festival "Literary anniversaries".

The festival has been organized by the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Yerevan, the Armenian Association of Russian Language and Literature Teachers with the assistance of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia.

The pupils of the gymnasium became participants of the theatrical performance. The program of the event included scenes from Griboyedov’s comedy “Woe from Wit” first staged in 1827 in Armenia on the territory of the Erivan Fortress. Viewers also learned about the love story of Alexander Griboyedov and the young Georgian princess Nina Chavchavadze.

The Presidential Library’s portal features Alexander Griboyedov (1795–1829) collection. It includes texts of fiction, correspondence, his travel notes. Literary and critical works dedicated to his work, biographical materials and other documents are also presented. Information resources of the Presidential Library are available at the remote access centers in different countries of the world. Today, the possibility of opening such a center in Yerevan is being considered.
