The Presidential Library’s electronic reading room opened in Taganrog

October 14, 2021 a remote electronic reading room of the Presidential Library was opened in a solemn atmosphere at the A.P. Chekhov Taganrog Institute, a branch of the Rostov State Economic University. It has become 1300th center of remote access to library resources located in Russia.

The opening of the electronic reading room took place within the framework of the Presidential Library's Annual Integration Forum, which is held from October 12-15 in Rostov-on-Don.

Visitors to the new remote electronic reading room in Taganrog now have opportunity to get online access to the entire collection of the Presidential Library, which currently contains more than a million depository items. These are digital copies of rare book publications, archival documents, scientific works, audio and video recordings and other materials spotlighting the centuries-old history of Russian statehood, theory and practice of law, Russian as the state language of the Russian Federation.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Rostov Region: Pages of History, which includes studies, archival documents, maps and audio materials spotlighting the history of the development of Rostov Region in the 17th – 20th centuries, as well as the current Charter of Rostov Region.

A new collection Don Cossacks is available on the Presidential Library's portal within the framework of the Annual Integration Forum. It is dedicated to the history of the Russian Cossacks. Special attention is paid to the Don Cossack army. The collection contains scientific studies, reference publications, popular historical essays of the XIX - early XX centuries, editions of statutes and regulations, archival materials, maps, plans and drawings reflecting the culture of the Cossacks, the history of the organization of the Cossack troops and the Cossack service, including the history of the participation of the Don Cossacks in the First World War, the 1917 Revolution and the Civil War in Russia, as well as the revival of the traditions of the southern Cossacks in the Russian Federation.
