10 February 2022

On February 10, 2022 the Presidential Library hosted a webinar and conference «Alexander Pushkin’s Memorial Day», timed to coincide with the 185th anniversary of the death of the great poet.

The event is available on the institution's YouTube channel.

The main goal of the traditional annual webinar and conference is to preserve the memory of the life and career of Pushkin, to attract interest in his personality, to promote the heritage of the classic of Russian literature.

Acting Director General of the Presidential Library Pavel Tereshchenko and Director of the Pushkin All-Russian Museum Sergei Nekrasov greeted the audience.

In 2022 the webinar and conference program included a historical and chronological session, a literary and creative session, and a session “Alexander Pushkin in the modern world”.

The speeches of scientists, specialists, Pushkin's descendants, representatives of the International Pushkin Foundation from Belgium were devoted to a variety of topics: the last days of the poet, his relationship with Nicholas I, Pushkin's stories in popular culture, etc. The event participants found out whether it was possible to save Alexander Sergeevich, how the public reacted to his death. And of course, within the framework of the webinar conference, lines from the immortal works of the great poet were heard.

The Presidential Library’s collections contain a large number of materials that tell about the life and career of the classic of Russian literature; they are available in the electronic collection Alexander Pushkin (1799–1837). It includes digital copies of books, articles, archival documents, abstracts, dissertations, video films, postcards, drawings and paintings illustrating the poet and people of his circle.

The Presidential Library’s portal provides a  film ...my address: on the Moika, near the Konyushenny bridge... which tells about Pushkin’s life in the house on the Moika, 12: about everyday affairs, about family, friends, and, of course, about the last days of the great poet. The film Foreign words in the poetry of Alexander Pushkin, based on the materials of the electronic collections of the Presidential Library and dedicated to foreign borrowings in the Russian language, is also available.
