Educational event for schoolchildren held in Penza marking 200th anniversary of Alexander Ostrovsky

Specialists of the Lermontov Penza Regional Library held an educational event for schoolchildren which marked the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great playwright Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky.

The children were shown materials from the electronic holdings of the Presidential Library and, in particular, the collection Alexander Ostrovsky (1823–1886), which includes official documents, thesis, collections of articles, periodicals, research and visual materials.

Of particular interest to schoolchildren was the book by V. I. Pokrovsky Alexander Nikolayevich Ostrovsky: His Life and Oeuvre, published in the printing house of G. Lissner and D. Sobko in 1905. In addition, the Presidential Library’s portal in On this Day section provides students with the biographical information about the writer.

As part of the event, schoolchildren also visited the exhibition "A Playwright for All Seasons" that was opened at the Lermontov Penza Regional Library. The exposition features lifetime editions of A. N. Ostrovsky’s works.

The Presidential Library’s portal features the collection Penza Region: Pages of History. It includes archival documents, essays, studies, statistical and other materials covering various aspects of the development of the region in different historical periods.
