
Winners of "All India Translation Competition" honoured in India
The winners of the unique "All India Translation Competition" were honoured at the Russian House in New Delhi. The ceremony was timed to coincide with the 226th anniversary of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The project was made possible through the co-operation of the Russian House in India, the Institute of Translation and the Union of Russian Translators of India.
The contest participants presented translations of Sergei Alekseev's story "Brest Fortress" into six Indian languages, demonstrating a high level of proficiency in the Russian language and a deep respect for historical memory.
Elena Remizova, Head of the Russian House in New Delhi, Sonu Saini, Chairman of the Union of Russian Translators of India, Evgeny Reznichenko, Director of the Institute of Translation (Moscow), Kiran Singh Verma, Head of the Russian Language Centre of Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Ranjana Benerjee, a teacher at the institution, spoke about the project.
In their speeches they noted the significance of such initiatives for the development of Russian-Indian humanitarian ties and emphasised the keen interest of Indian youth in Russian culture and literature.
It is noted that the Russian House in India, the Institute of Translation and the Union of Russian Translators of India will continue co-operation in the implementation of such initiatives.
The Electronic Reading Room of the Presidential Library, opened in 2023 on the basis of the Russian House in Mumbai, today allows its guests to get acquainted with the whole variety of collections of the library's electronic fund.
Visitors to the Russian House in Mumbai will be interested in the Russian Language collection from the Presidential Library's electronic collection. It includes more than 1,100 items of rare archival documents, including manuscripts, monuments of Russian writing, archival files, scientific works, dictionaries, reference books, teaching aids and much more.
