Dmitry Medvedev and the Prime Minister of Finland Juha Sipilä have met in the Presidential Library

On September 21, 2017, a working meeting of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and the Prime Minister of Finland Juha Sipilä took place at the premises of the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg. The meeting was held on the opening day of the Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum, timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Finland’s independence.

The heads of governments discussed key issues of Russian-Finnish cooperation, reviewed the progress of implementation of joint infrastructural, energy, industrial and high-tech projects, and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.

“For seven months of this year, the volume of trade cooperation, trade turnover has increased almost half,” — Dmitry Medvedev said.

In the sphere of trade and economic cooperation, Russia now ranks third among Finland's trading partners. During the talks, major bilateral investments in the field of nuclear energy were discussed, an issue of the Nord Stream-2 project, the construction of which should begin in the first quarter of next year, was specially focused on.

Looking back, on March 29, 2016, the Presidential Library held a meeting of the co-chairs of the Finnish-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation.
