The village of Staraya Ladoga is located 130 kilometers east of St. Petersburg, in Leningrad Region, in the lower reaches of the Volkhov River. Until 1704 it had the status of a city called Ladoga. Ladoga was the first "window to Europe" for the Eastern Slavs, a key port city on the great waterways, including the famous from the Varangians to the Greeks. This city witnessed the birth of the Russian state.

Information technology and cartography: The most complete digital topographic map of our planet published

18 October 2011 the NASA published the most complete topographic digital map of our planet. The map, also known as the Global Digital Elevation Model, was created on the basis of images provided by ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer), a Japan’s scientific tool, installed on the Terra, NASA’s satellite.

On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege, specialists from the Regional Center of the Presidential Library based on the Franco Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library, held a number of thematic events for senior pupils. The meetings took place within the walls of the library and on the grounds of Simferopol schools.

The "Modern Russia" photo exhibition was presented on one of the central avenues of the Cuban capital. The event marked Russian Day. It was arranged by the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Havana and the Russian embassy in Cuba. The holiday program also included some online activities.
