On June 8 (20), 1893 in St. Petersburg on the initiative of Dmitry Mendeleev, scholar and curator of Weights and Measures Models Depot, in order to ‘preserve the uniformity, correctness and mutual correspondence of weights and measures in the state’ was established the Boards of Weights and Measures, the scientific metrological center of Russia.

The exhibition is timed to the 210th anniversary of Nikolai Gogol’s birth and the Year of Theatre in Russia and spotlights the writer’s dramatic legacy.
