Representatives of educational and cultural institutions of Sakhalin region learned resources of Presidential Library

On February 11, 2025, specialists from the Regional Center of the Presidential Library, based on the Sakhalin Regional Universal Scientific Library, hosted a seminar titled The Presidential Library as a Reliable Source of Traditional Russian Spiritual and Moral Values. The event was co-organized with the Honored Teacher of Russia V. D. Gurevich Institute for the Development of Education in the Sakhalin Region.

More than a hundred representatives from regional educational and cultural institutions attended the seminar both in person and online. Marina Volkova, acting director of the Sakhalin Regional Universal Scientific Library, welcomed the participants with a speech.

The guest of honor, Yuri Semyonov, director of the Nikolaev Center Library and Archive of the First President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and head of the Yakutsk Regional Center of the Presidential Library, emphasized the importance of integrating decrees of the President of the Russian Federation aimed at preserving and strengthening traditional spiritual and moral values and national security strategies into education. He noted that for successful implementation of these objectives, it is crucial to provide reliable information, and spoke about the capabilities of the Presidential Library's portal. Yuri Semyonov introduced the audience to the main collections of the library: Russian people, Territory of Russia, Russian language, and State Authority.

Svetlana Dobrovolskaya, a specialist from the regional center, presented the participants with the history of the Sakhalin Regional Center of the Presidential Library, its goals, objectives, and activities, as well as the prospects for developing a network of electronic reading rooms in the region. Additionally, they discussed an algorithm for connecting organizations to the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library.

In her presentation, The Presidential Library and Its Role in the Educational Process, Svetlana spoke about the opportunities offered by the Presidential Library's resources for both regular and extra-curricular activities. She emphasized that projects such as the historical calendar On this Day, video lectures Knowledge of Russia, and the informative and educational website for school students Gosudarika were particularly popular among students on the island.

At the end of the seminar, Valeria Malakhovskaya, the Director of the Department for Work with Regions at the Presidential Library, discussed ways to improve the effectiveness of the educational process through the use of digital resources from the Presidential Library. She presented the collection Sakhalin Region: Pages of History, which is available on the library's website. The collection includes geographical descriptions, travel sketches, archival and visual materials from the 19th and 20th centuries that highlight various aspects of the region's history and development.
