The Presidential Library today in the figures, facts, and plans

A volume of the Presidential Library electronic stock exceeded in 2017 600,000 entries. The General Director of the Presidential Library Alexander Vershinin officially announced this. He has made it plain that more than 60 million scans of various kinds of documents relating to the history, theory and practice of Russian statehood, the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation are now included into the national information resource.

Internet and Society: Online service "Ready to Digital Economy" launched in Russia

The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation and the consortium for the development of digital literacy will launch an educational resource of the readiness to the digital economy as part of the national program Digital Economy. The new portal is an aggregator of services for testing the level of digital literacy, training in safe and effective work with digital technology.

German transport Wilhelm Gustloff was sunk in the Baltic Sea

On January 30, 1945, in the Baltic Sea, the Soviet submarine S-13, under the command of Captain A. I. Marinesko, sank the German passenger ship Wilhelm Gustloff. The Wilhelm Gustloff was carrying German submarine personnel, officials of the Nazi regime, and refugees. This event has been described in some historical publications as the "attack of the century".

On November 5, 2019 the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) published its report under the title Measuring Digital Development: Facts and Figures 2019 (Geneva). According to the report, over 53 per cent of the world’s population, or estimated 4.1 billion people, use Internet. It reflects a 5.3 percent increase compared with 2018.
