Birth of Russian polar explorer, writer, ethnographer Konstantin Dmitrievich Nosilov

Konstantin Dmitrievich Nosilov was born on October 17 (29), 1858 in the village of Maslyanskoye, Krestovsky volost, Shadrinsky district, Perm province (now Kurgan Region) in the family of a village priest. From 1868 he studied at the Dalmatov Monastery, and later at the Perm Theological Seminary, from which he was expelled “for lack of diligence”.

Pavel Stepanovich Nakhimov was born on June 23 (July 5), 1802 in the village of Gorodok (today does not exist) in the Vyazemsky district of Smolensk province in a noble family. In 1818 he graduated from the Naval Cadet Corps. In 1822–1825 while serving in the Baltic Fleet, he made a long round-the-world voyage as a watch officer on the frigate Cruiser under the command of M. P. Lazarev.

Breakthrough of the Siege of Leningrad presented in the Presidential Library’s materials

January 12, 1943 "Iskra" “blinded” fascists. This was the name of one of the most famous operations of the Red Army and the Navy during the Great Patriotic War breaking the Siege of Leningrad. On this day, the Soviet fighters struck the first crushing blow to the occupier’s steel ring. The complete series of the events of almost 900 terrible days of the siege of the city on the Neva is presented in a special digital collection of the Presidential Library "Defence and Siege of Leningrad".

On March 17, 2021, the Underground Museum of the Zaryadye Park launched the "Crimea. History" exhibition. It was prepared by the ROSPHOTO Museum and Exhibition Centre. The exposition features unique photographs of the mid-XIX century with views of the cities, coastal villages, sea and mountains and Crimean residents. The history of the entrance of Crimea to the Russian Empire and its development is conveyed by maps, plans, engravings, decrees of Russian emperors and other documents.

The State Tretyakov Gallery presents the exhibition Conqueror of Lightning and Waves in the Kaliningrad History and Art Museum, marking the 350th anniversary since the birth of Peter I (1672–1725). The exhibition is based on thirty eight paintings, graphics and sculptures from the collections of the gallery that tell about the famous deeds of the first Russian emperor: gaining access to the Baltic Sea, establishment of the Russian fleet, as well as the history of sea and land battles.

The event followed the theme of 2022, dedicated to the anniversary of Peter the Great, the founder of the Russian Navy, with the theme of next year, declared by the President of Russia as the Year of the Teacher and Mentor.

June 18, 1937 launched the world's first non-stop flight Moscow - North Pole - Vancouver (Washington, USA) performed by the crew of ANT-25 which included the crew commander – V. P. Chkalov, co-pilot – G. F. Baidukov and navigator - A. V. Belyakov. The flight ended June 20.
