The Library Capital of Russia 2022, the city, which will host the Russian Library Association Congress next May, was announced at the closing ceremony of the XXV Annual Conference of the Russian Library Association. It is Nizhny Novgorod, which marks the 800th anniversary of its foundation in 2021.

On September 15, 2021, the Presidential Library hosted an online lecture The first depositor of the savings bank - the second in a series dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the savings business in Russia. The first lecture was dedicated to the director of St. Petersburg and then Russian savings banks from 1872 to 1893, Peter Alexandrovich Efremov.

Forty years ago the librarians at the Tennessee State Library and Archives in Nashville (USA) began an ambitious and arduous task. As the library collected books full of biographical information on famous and not-so-famous Tennesseans, the staff began creating a printed index of everyone mentioned in the books as a reference tool for researchers, scholars and anyone interested.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has announced that the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation has chosen Science Classic (digital archive of journal’s articles spanning the period between 1880 and 1996) to be its first acquisition as a part of a large-scale project which aims to provide a nationwide access to academic archives.

A selection of nearly 50,000 images from the Science Museum Group (UK) that span science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine are now available under Creative Commons licenses as part of Open Artstor: Science Museum Group collection. The Science Museum Group includes the Science Museum in London, the National Railway Museum in York, the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester and Locomotion in Shildon.
