On December 5th 2011 the Museum and Exhibition Center of Kargopol Museum of History, Architecture and Art (Arkhangelsk Region) staged “We discover America” exhibition, which turns the spotlight on 265th birth anniversary of a famous governor of Alaska – Alexander Baranov, who was born in Kargopol.

An exhibition "Open City - April 6, 1941" in memory of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the bombing of the city and the attack of Nazi Germany on Yugoslavia was opened on the Republic Square in the center of Belgrade. Russia will launch a project that will allow relatives of soldiers and officers died at the fronts of the Great Patriotic War to fill the gaps in family history. It was named "Front Portraits. The fate of a soldier". Employees of the search organizations of the CIS countries are invited to help to identify servicemen who are depicted on a variety of surviving frontline drawings, then to tell their relatives about it and transfer a copy of the portrait.
