Little-known facts about abdication of Nicholas II presented in documents of Presidential Library

On March 15 (old style - March 2), 1917, a significant event took place that rightfully ranks among the most important events in the history of Russia in the 20th century - Emperor Nicholas II abdicated the throne for himself and his young son Alexei. The following day, his younger brother Grand Duke Mikhail Alexandrovich also refused to assume supreme power. This marked the end of more than three centuries of rule by the House of Romanov and the end of the history of monarchy in Russia.
